Pastor’s History

Reverend Dr. Weldon McWilliams, Jr. has been our Pastor and Spiritual Leader for 43 successful years.

Through the grace of God, Pastor McWilliams accomplishments have been many.

He reorganized or established the following groups and/or auxiliaries:The Male Chorus, The Usher Board, The BTU, The McWilliams Singers, Community Youth Council, Mid Week Service, Bible Study II, Members Class Curriculum, The Mass Choir, the Youth Choir and numerous others.

Our Pastor saw a need for unity among the various pastors, ministers and churches of Rockland County, and he organized the Rockland County Ministers Alliance.Which will be celebrating its 28th Anniversary in May.Services are held every fourth Sunday of each month at the various churches

He also hosted the first Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Church Service in the County, which has been an astounding success. Under his Pastorate, four mortgages have been burned. The Pastor implemented 3 financial programs, the Christian Warriors, Faith Partners and Gideons 300; these programs successfully financed and eliminated 3 mortgages ahead of time.

Pastor McWilliams has ordained five ministers and twelve deacons.

In December of 2001, our Pastor was one of the Recipients of the first Rockland County NAACP Image Awards, which was sponsored by the Nyack Branch.

Because our Pastor has been faithful and dedicated not only to The First Baptist Church, but the Community at large, a portion of Hoyt Street was renamed Reverend Dr. McWilliams Way.

We have been truly blessed by God for Pastor McWilliams, a Pastor who does his pastoral duties by taking care of the needy.

We thank God and we thank you our beloved Pastor for being a humble, kind and loving Pastor, and it is our prayers that God will continue to walk with you daily, and may He keep you in His tender loving care.
